The “Judgment of Paris” was a legendary blind tasting pitting the best wines of France against those of Napa Valley, an event that would forever change the world of wine in 1976. To celebrate EuroCave50th anniversary and 50 years after the Judgment of Paris, EuroCave is offering you two spots for the “Judgment of Paris 2026” hosted by Master of Wine Cees van Casteren.

Background Information
The “Judgment of Paris” was a wine tasting organized in May 1976 by Englishman Stephen Spurrier at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Paris; it was initially intended to be educational rather than competitive. However, the blind tasting of wines from the two regions side by side inadvertently turned into a competition. In the morning, six Napa Valley Chardonnays went head-to-head against four white Burgundies, while in the afternoon, six Napa Valley Cabs faced off against four Grands Crus Classés from the Haut-Médoc. To everyone’s surprise—or rather, astonishment—Napa Valley emerged victorious in both sessions. This marked the beginning of the recognition of Napa Valley and, more broadly, the New World as a producer of top-quality wines.
